Domain Names

A domain name is a unique identifier for your website. Here's an example: www.pregnancyresourcecenter.com. When selecting a domain name for your center's website(s) there are two things to keep in mind. First, pick something that its memorable so your clients can recall it with ease. Second, consider your audience when you are deciding on a domain name. Pick words or phrases that are appealing to your client.

Tips:

Be cautious of choosing a domain name that's too long.

Don't use acronyms or letters - they're too hard to remember (i.e. www. cpcofnc.org).

When advertising your domain name, capitalize words so that the reader can decipher it easily (i.e. www.MorningStarChoices.com).

Stay away from domain names that are judgmental (i.e. www.NoAbortion.com or www.BabiesAreABlessing.com)

For client-focused websites, remember to keep your domain name neutral. Consider a name that is relative to your location and the issues at hand:

* www.MyTownPregnancy.com
* www.MyStatePregnancy.com

Or something catchy - like:

* www.GotAProblem.com
* www.NeedSomeAnswers.com

For Ministry websites, it's fine to use your center's operating name or something that identifies with your mission:

* www.FriendsofCenterName.org
* www.CPCofMyTown.org

How to get a domain name:

Domain names are purchased through a domain registrar.  If you don't want to hassle with domain registration and annual renewal, Optionline Extend can take care of that for you. Feel free to contact us and we would be happy to help.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
If you'd like to get the domain name yourself you'll need to keep track of:

* Where you bought it

* The username and password into your site

You will need to provide that informaiton to Optionline e-Xtend.
